Angela Collins is a senior member of Thompsons Solicitors’ industrial disease team, based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and covering the North East of England and Cumbria.
As a highly-experienced lawyer, Angela conducts and manages all aspects of an industrial disease case load and assists in coaching and supervising other lawyers.
Angela qualified as a chartered legal executive in 1998, having been employed by Thompsons since 1985.
Angela is a specialist in employer’s liability disease claims, involving exposure at work. Her cases involve hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS), work-related neck and upper limb disorders (WRULDs), noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) and repetitive strain injuries.

Angela’s case experience
- After the Ministry of Defence refused to concede liability for a soldier’s loss of hearing and tinnitus following an explosion. Angela issued court proceedings and advised the client to reject an initial offer of £25,000 and instead successfully secured a settlement for £40,000.
- Angela secured ÂŁ4,000 compensation for a railway worker client who's employer admitted to exposing him to high levels of vibration, but refused to concede it had caused hand arm vibration syndrome.
- Angela secured a settlement for a steelworker who developed hearing loss and tinnitus after prolonged exposure to excessive levels of noise. The employer conceded liability, but denied it had caused the symptoms.Â
