Julian is an experienced costs lawyer and a member of Thompsons. Having specialised in legal costs since 1999 he joined Thompsons as head of costs in 2005.
Julian regularly advises on costs issues in high-value and complex cases. He is also involved in the preparation of funding arrangements for our trade union clients.
He has been a member of the Association of Costs Lawyers Council since May 2022, where he is also a member of the costs policy sub-committee.
Julian oversees the management of Thompsons’ internal costs teams, which deal with claimant costs recovery and costs management in high-value personal injury and clinical negligence cases, but also in trade union law, group litigation and employment matters, including costs arising in the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. The teams also specialise in Court of Protection costs work.
Julian provides training on a wide range of costs-related topics for claimant lawyers.
Away from work, Julian likes to spend time with his four children visiting historical places of interest. He also enjoys keeping fit, running and winds down through meditation.
