Feedback from workers who received support for work-related charges last year was overwhelmingly positive
Workers who sought advice from Thompsons Solicitors’ criminal law team in 2016 have voiced their appreciation for the support received.
The legal firm, which provides comprehensive criminal law and professional misconduct advice to trade union members for work-related matters, has been overwhelmed by the positive feedback received in its annual members’ survey.
Nearly every worker it defended on a criminal or professional misconduct charge in 2016 - 99 per cent – heaped praise on the team for the support they provide.
“We pride ourselves on our ability to provide a supportive, personal service to workers, who often feel isolated and vulnerable when they contact us,” said Paula Porter, practice lead for Thompsons’ professional misconduct and criminal law division.
“To see how much that is valued is hugely rewarding and reflects the effort employed by our team.”
Thompsons Solicitors gives free legal advice on a variety of issues to members of some of the UKs largest trade unions. During the past 12 months, the legal team has delivered expert advice and representation to hundreds of people whose rights have been abused or ignored, and has helped secure tens of millions of pounds in compensation.
“Since our foundation in 1921, Thompsons has taken a central role in fighting alongside trade unions to protect and improve workplace safety standards and employment rights,” said Ms Porter. “We will continue to do so, ensuring those workers subjected to disciplinary and criminal proceedings are treated fairly.”
