Campaign to stop maternity units from closing
Thompsons Solicitors has given a boost to a cycling challenge organised by trade union the RCM to raise funds for a charity which campaigns to stop maternity units from closing.
A team of ten RCM staff members are taking on the challenge of cycling from London to Paris in support of the National Maternity Support Foundation, also known as Jake’s Charity.
The team hope to raise £14,000. RCM’s lawyers, Thompsons Solicitors has donated £1,200.
Tom Jones from Thompsons said: “Four days in the saddle will be gruelling but worth it as their efforts will support a charity ensuring services for pregnant women and their babies are safeguarded.
“This is an important cause, which needs to be championed all the more during the current climate of government cuts.”
The RCM staff members will take four days to complete the 300 miles from London to Paris.
Leaving on May 9, their route will take in rural Kent, the River Somme and of course, the streets of Paris.
The team includes RCM General Secretary Cathy Warwick.
