In defence of check-off

A union has successfully challenged the government in court after it tried to make it more difficult for members to pay their subs via a contractual system.

A court has held that a company owner was not an employee or a worker for the simple reason that he was able to determine how and when the work should be done.

Minimum obligations

When deciding worker status, a court has held that it is not necessary for the worker to accept a minimum amount of work, nor for the employer to offer it.
