Since the 1990s, asbestos victim support groups have provided support to individuals and families who have experienced the devastating effects of asbestos-related disease, and have campaigned to raise awareness of its devastating legacy to industry bodies, health and safety officials and government.
Founded in 2005, the Asbestos Victims Support Groups Forum is one of many groups offering a place for people to meet, discuss and take action on behalf of those with an asbestos-related disease. The groups also raise money to fund vital research into treatments for mesothelioma, pleural thickening, asbestos-related lung cancer and asbestosis.
