Charlie worked in the construction industry throughout the 1980s and 90s. His employer failed to provide appropriate protective equipment and, as a result, he was exposed to asbestos dust.
In 2011, Charlie’s wife persuaded him to visit his GP after his health deteriorated and soon afterwards he was diagnosed with the fatal asbestos-related cancer, mesothelioma.
Following his diagnosis, Charlie contacted his trade union, Unite, and instructed Thompsons Solicitors to investigate a compensation claim on his behalf.
Charlie said: “Thompsons were fantastic. They sat down with me and went through my employment history in detail to help work out exactly when I had been in contact with asbestos and that meant I could make a compensation claim. It is a comfort to know that I can give my family financial security when I am gone.”
