Ronald was diagnosed with occupational asthma after being repeatedly exposed to harmful metalwork fluid particles at work.
Ronald worked at a Ford plant in Dagenham and, for more than two decades, his employer failed to provide him with suitable protection from airborne chemicals. Following his diagnosis, Ronald’s condition continued to worsen and he was forced to take seven months off work because of his asthma. He ultimately decided to take early retirement due to his illness.
Ronald now suffers with permanent breathing difficulties. After being appointed a dedicated industrial disease solicitor through his membership of Unite the Union, Thompsons Solicitors and Unite Legal Services secured £33,000 in compensation for Ronald.
Ronald said: "I have been left with life-long breathing difficulties and I am now classed as partially disabled. It is an extremely frustrating and limiting condition that has a very negative effect on my quality of life, I can’t even walk my dog without getting out of breath.
“My solicitor at Thompsons was incredibly supportive and the compensation secured is a great comfort in helping me come to terms with my condition.”
